Department of Chemistry of Southern Federal University (SFedU launches this year English-taught Master's Program in Chemistry “Modern problems of physical and inorganic chemistry”
Term of training: 2 years
The concept of the program consists in detailed studying a modern state of research and problems of development of basic ideas in the field of physical and colloid chemistry, inorganic chemistry, electrochemistry and nanochemistry as well as computer and nanotechnologies and it is stressed on mastering the majority of program units in English. It is also intended to get skills of innovative and industrial multilanguage activity in the foreign countries.
The aims of educational program: creating the English language professional skills necessary for successful realization of various kinds of professional activities in the area of modern physical and chemical research methods, computer and nanotechnology, fundamental background of modern physical and inorganic chemistry and the natural science’s general questions.
The highly educated lecturers and leading scientists of Southern Federal University well-known in Russia and abroad will take part in the educational program’s realization. Most of them are fluently English speaking teachers published a lot of articles in scientific periodicals and having a large experience in tuition. It is also intended to invite the leading scientists and professors from the educational centers of Europe, Asia and the USA to participate in master program realization.
.The competence of the graduate:
Interpersonal professional competence: the Graduate with Master degree on this program should be able to work in close collaboration with colleagues.He or she should be also able to assert the point of view competently and tactfully conducting discussion in English on scientific and organizational problems. The Graduate should have skills of public rendering his or her own scientific opinion as well as the results of scientific research .
Professional competence: the Graduate with Master degree should have skills of carrying out the scientific researches, be able to work with the scientific literature, be able to process the experimental data using modern computer technologies, be able to make reports on scientific results to be obtained and to prepare materials for publication.
The master students are supposed to participate in carrying out of joint researches in collaboration with the scientists from such largest scientific centres as Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry named by Kurnakov (RAS, Moscow), Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry named by Frumkin (RAS, Moscow), International Tomographic Center (Novosibirsk), Institute of problems of chemical physics (Chernogolovka, Moscow). The above-mentioned centers are considered, first of all, as places for research practice and possible subsequent performance of master dissertation.

The Graduate with Master degree can successfully be engaged in research and teaching activity in the area of modern physical and inorganic chemistry. He or she can work also at the large enterprises and in business structures of Russia and abroad as the highly skilled expert and the expert in the field of chemistry, computer and nanotechnology.
